Sculpture (a): Head - Lines

My sculptural work focuses on the "Human Head", and the interpretation of  "Ancient Greek Mythology". In this portfolio I focus on the formal variety, tension and expression in sculpted heads  in shapes, planes, lines. Here is no relation with named persons or any narrative.

Head Zero

In the portfolio 'Possible faces' (b) this sculpture is called 'Andromache'. Here, in this portfolio, I call it "Head Zero".

This sculpture can be seen as a transitional figure between the categories I use for my sculptural work. Without the interpretation of the figure by specific naming, this is a work in which the coherence between interior space and external space is emphasized in particular, as well as the formal approach to the human head from a mainly compositional point of view, instead of a more narrative perspective, as I do with my mythological oriented sculpture. Because of the double position in my work, I gave it the title "Head Zero" within the category "Head-Lines". Finally it is - to me - the origin of a new type within the framework of my sculptural work.

Ancestors

A child am I

of many parents,

stacking predecessors

in and on my head,

carrying them along,

as penates, fetish,
burden sometimes,

in hope of reluctant
 blessing.

Most of them are
 strange and far to me.
I am going back in mind,
 cherishing signs, crossing
 borders, asking birds,
 defeating shadows, raging
 emptiness beyond, to an
 uncertain destination.
